Reiki Frequently asked questions.
What is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a Japanese energy healing technique that promotes relaxation, stress reduction, and energetic balance. It works by channeling universal life force energy through the practitioner to the client, supporting the body’s natural ability to heal on physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual levels.
How does distance Reiki work?
Energy isn’t limited by time or space, meaning Reiki can be just as effective remotely as it is in person. During a distance session, we set a clear energetic connection, and I channel Reiki to your energy field while you rest in a quiet, comfortable space. Many clients report feeling relaxed, tingly, emotional release, or even falling asleep.
What does Reiki feel like?
Everyone experiences Reiki differently. You might feel warmth, tingling, lightness, emotional release, or deep calm. Some people have vivid visuals or receive intuitive insights. Others simply feel rested and grounded. There’s no “right” way to experience Reiki. Your body will take what it needs.
Is Reiki religious or spiritual?
Reiki is not tied to any religion or belief system. It’s a gentle, non-invasive healing practice that works with the natural energy systems of the body. You don’t need to believe in anything specific for Reiki to be effective, just be open to the experience.
Can Reiki help with specific issues?
Reiki supports your body’s natural healing process, so it can help you feel more grounded, calm, and clear. While it’s not a replacement for medical or mental health care, it can be deeply supportive for anxiety, burnout, emotional blocks, life transitions, and spiritual growth.
How often should I get Reiki?
That depends on your needs. Some clients come weekly during stressful times, others book monthly for maintenance, and some drop in as needed. If you’re working through something big, a short series of sessions (like a 3-pack) can be especially powerful.
Are there side effects after a Reiki session?
There can be.
Most people feel relaxed, lighter, or even euphoric after a session. But sometimes, healing stirs things up. You might experience:
Emotional release (tears, anger, random sadness)
Fatigue or sleepiness
Weird, vivid dreams
Physical sensations (like chills, buzzing, or even minor aches as your body processes stored energy)
Old memories or emotions resurfacing
It’s all part of the clearing and your system is making space for something new.
